Contemporary bungalow renovation with open corner sliding doors

This beautifully renovated bungalow has been transformed into a light-filled contemporary home, where clean lines and stylish glazed doors and windows create the much sought-after connection between house and garden. Clad in crisp white render and finished with striking grey aluminium frames, the property showcases a seamless integration of SUNFLEX UK glazing systems installed by Folding Future, including open corner sliding doors, large picture windows and tilt & turn windows.

The homeowners sought to modernise their existing bungalow while preserving its single-storey footprint. Central to the design brief was the desire to create open-plan living spaces filled with natural light. Working closely with their architect, the homeowners spoke at length to Folding Future about the best solutions to meet their needs for both visual impact and everyday practicality.

A standout feature of the renovation is the installation of SUNFLEX SVG20 open corner sliding doors. The system combines large, glazed panels and minimal sightlines with the panels meeting at a post-free corner, enabling the doors to slide fully open to create panoramic views of the garden.

When closed, the slim grey aluminium frames crisply contrast against the white rendered façade, creating a sharp, contemporary finish. When open, the system transforms the living area into an extension of the patio, ideal for entertaining and family life.

Crucially, the door tracks are fully recessed into the floor, delivering a completely flush threshold between inside and out. This not only enhances accessibility but reinforces the seamless visual flow from inside to out.

The home also utilises large picture windows which have been carefully positioned to frame key garden views and flood the home with daylight. From the kitchen and living spaces, uninterrupted glazing captures the greenery beyond, turning the garden into a living backdrop to everyday life.

SAF tilt & turn windows were specified throughout the property, their large sashes maximizing the amount of glass. Their dual-function opening allows for secure night-time ventilation in tilt mode, while the turn function enables full opening and easy cleaning from inside.

Combined with high-performance glazing, these windows contribute to excellent thermal efficiency, helping to maintain comfortable indoor temperatures year-round while reducing energy consumption in the renovated home.

This renovated bungalow demonstrates how thoughtful glazing design can completely transform a home. By working closely with Folding Future to discuss the options and by choosing SUNFLEX UK systems the property now benefits from abundant natural light, uninterrupted garden views and seamless indoor-outdoor living.
